A ceremony that flows, a reception with no dead moments, and a dancefloor that stays full until the last song. I’m Jason Clark, a wedding DJ based in Colchester. I’ve been DJing weddings since 2007, and I cover the whole of Essex and south Suffolk.
What’s included
- Pre-event consultation – planning your day together, well ahead of the date.
- Ceremony music – the right music at just the right levels, through an elegant and discreet sound system.
- Lavalier microphones – can be supplied if required, so your vows are clearly heard.
- Drinks reception – background music while your guests mingle.
- Evening reception – dance music and requests, from your first dance to the last song.

Your music, planned with you
During the planning phase we go through your must-play and do-not-play lists, your first dance and anything else that matters to you. On the night I’m happy to take guest requests that fit your brief and keep the dancefloor busy.
Clients get access to the VIP client portal, where you can build your playlist, complete your planning forms and shape the timeline for the day whenever it suits you.
Wedding venues across Essex and Suffolk
Over 19 years I’ve played weddings at all sorts of venues, and each type needs a slightly different approach. I’ve written a practical guide to the ones I’m asked about most, covering whether you can bring your own DJ, how far each is from Colchester and what the room is like to work in:
- Golf clubs, including Colne Valley, Stoke by Nayland and Three Rivers
- Hotels, including Wivenhoe House and Pontlands Park
- Barns and rustic venues, including Houchins and Blake Hall
- Manor houses, including Leez Priory and Gosfield Hall
- Village halls and community venues across Essex and Suffolk
Venues usually ask for a DJ’s paperwork before the day. I carry £10,000,000 Public Liability Insurance, all my equipment is PAT tested, and Risk Assessments and Method Statements are provided to any venue on request.
Packages and prices
As a guide, my wedding packages run from £450 for an evening reception of up to four hours, through £800 for up to six hours including ceremony and reception with MC services, to £1200 for full-day coverage with uplighting. Every wedding is different, so your quote is tailored to your day. See the full package details.
How booking works
- Tell me about your date, venue and what you’re after.
- I send a fixed quotation by email with full terms and conditions, so there are no surprises later.
- You sign the contract online in a couple of minutes.
- You pay the deposit to secure your date.
- Your date is locked in, and I won’t quote for any other event that day.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should we book a wedding DJ?
For weddings I recommend booking 6 to 12 months in advance, especially for popular dates like Saturdays in summer. I can often accommodate shorter notice, depending on availability.
Can you act as our Master of Ceremonies?
Yes. I can make announcements, introduce speeches and coordinate the key moments throughout your day.
What happens if a piece of equipment fails?
I carry full backup equipment, including spare mixers, microphones and cables, so the music carries on if something develops a fault.
Do you only cover Colchester?
No. I’m based in Colchester and cover the whole of Essex and Suffolk, including Chelmsford, Braintree, Witham, Maldon, Sudbury and Ipswich, and I’m happy to travel further for special events.
